Two Rodrigo works performed in Brussels

On Friday, April 21st, for the opening of the Brussels International Guitar Festival & Competition, two works by Joaquín Rodrigo were performed with great success: Concierto para una fiesta, for guitar and orchestra, with soloist Marco Tamayo; and Concierto andaluz, for four guitars and orchestra.  The enthusiastic ovation by the audience prompted an encore of the entire second movement, Adagio, of Concierto andaluz.

Attending the magnificent concert that took place at the Théâtre du Vaudeville in Brussels were Cecilia Rodrigo Camhi and Cecilia León Rodrigo, daughter and granddaughter of the composer.  The guitarists who performed were Anabel Montesinos, Marco Tamyo, Daniel Egielman and Tal Hurwitz, accompanied by the Chapelle Musicle de Tournai Orchestra, conducted by Philippe Gérard.
